I draped and patterned the dress for Marie Antionette, and assisted in the sewing process from mock-up to finished assembly. My favorite part of the dress to work on was the back drape/cape piece, as well as the decorations on the bodice and skirt front.
Resizing and adjusting the pattern in muslin on the mannequin.
The initial muslin test for the back drape.
The first bodice mock-up ready for the initial fitting.
The underskirt in the midst of being pleated on the dress form.
The base bodice with sleeves added.
The finished base dress with lining and lace, just missing the decorations and petticoat.
The back pleat after finishing the base dress, in need of pressing. I had a fun time pattern matching the left and right sides.
The finished dress.
The overskirt and bodice had a closure in the front, and was rigged to the underskirt, petticoat, and panniers so that the actress could undress on stage.
I am a lover of all things Disney (and also a fan of pirate fashion), so when Disney Parks debuted a new audio animatronic of the updated classic Redhead for the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction, I jumped at the opportunity to recreate her look. Modifying a pattern, I was able to accurately make a close replica to the original.
After watching the live-action Beauty and the Beast, I fell in love with Belle's ballgown. Using techniques new to me such as stenciling and patterning, I created my own version of Belle's dress.
